The first Essex Quince

This peculiar looking hard, yellow and aromatic fruit is absolutely delicious and perfect for turning into jelly or jams.

Whilst this deciduous quince tree bears such a lovely edible pomme fruit, the tree is also grown purposely around the world for its attractive pale pink blossom and other ornamental qualities.

Traditionally eaten with cheese by the Spanish, they are a worthwhile addition to your shop this week as they are just so versatile. When simmered with sugar and spices,
quince becomes fragrant and perfumed, scarlet pink, tender like poached apples, but with more aroma and spicy, tangy notes. View our favourite recipe here.
