English Wine at Farm Direct
The Farm Direct wine, beer and cider section went live in August and has been really popular. Our biggest worry when sourcing for this section was that we wanted to have only English products. Beer, larger and cider is something us Brits do well, but what about English wine?
We went on a journey of discovery and were delighted with what we have found. The vineyard that we source our wine from - Three Choirs - has a wonderful range of English white wine and a fab sparkling number. Three Choirs is in Gloucestershire, and is one of England's leading and most awarded, single estate vineyard. It is an 80 acre vineyard making it one of the largest in the UK and has been producing wine since 1976. With its own microclimate sheltered between the Malverns and the Brecon Beacons it has an average rainfall of 20 inches per annum.
Over the coming months we will be expanding our English wine section to include more reds, rose and sparklings from new and exciting English vineyards so watch this space.
